The Wandering Ipad

The Ipad could bring a whole new level of utility and functionality to auctions, garage sales and flea markets. Think you remember seeing a similar item, but cannot remember if it is really valuable or not? Use the large screen of the ipad to search out completed auctions or for identifying marks and history. It may prove worth the money in the long run.

Sure, searches like this can be done with current smartphones, but if you are like me, the current smartphones and their internet capabilities are not that great. I have a blackberry with access on US Cellular and the screen is too small for any really use information to be found at a decent speed. The best thing Apple can do is open up the ipad for use with other service providers. Apple can probably also demand upgrades to the cellular systems of these carriers to insure that comlpaints about speed are reduced. AT&T has taught a lot of other companies how NOT to do business with the large amounts of complaints about service. Hopefully Apple will spread the large usage these devices need over a number of providers and make us all much happier.

Tweak Jewelry

My wife recently pointed out Tweak Jewelry to me as something she was interested in. I pretended not to pay attention to her, but later went and checked the site out myself. The artist at Tweak has a great concept of color and design with some unique ideas. I ordered some of the items and hope to surprise the wife with a couple gifts over the next month or two. We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day (she thinks it is too commercial), so I try to have random days to show my appreciation for her. I'll post some pictures of the jewelry when it arrives.

It should be noted that the artist is in Canada and so some shipping issues may crop up for those of us in the US. I'll make sure to point out those as well. (Image is of a necklace from the Tweak website)

Hello!

I am the Wandering Merchant. Since early 2009 I have been dealing with severe headaches from a car accident. Some days I feel much better than others. On those days I get out and about searching for unique and interesting items. Other days I research the new (to me) and unique items to learn their history and value. This work helps keep me sane and this blog is another step in that process. I will be posting random things I find as well as other interesting adventures and people. Comments are open and I will check them regularly. I hope this place will be a fun adventure for me to report and remember my experiences.
